Hello Army,

I'm currently in the process of trying to license some new Soldiers in my PLT. What I can derive from AR 600-55 it appears that my BN is responsible for having an instructor who is certified and licensed on the equipment I'm trying to test on. We go out and do a Road Test and if the examiner approves the Soldier to be licensed, then they get it, right?

However, according to some NCOs in my unit, there are regulations at my post that require Soldiers to acquire 'experience' in the form of mileage, hours in training, etc. etc. before they're eligible for taking a Road Test and getting licensed, but in every instance I have asked for the post regulations and guidance on how much 'experience' is required and none of them can tell me exactly what the regs are.

I now have 1 E6, 3 E5s and 4 E4s who came to my PLT from other posts and they can't drive vehicles because according to my installation, they haven't proven that they have 'experience', so their license from Fort Other Place is no good.

Please help explain this to me. Thank you /r/Army!
