My previous Samsung TVs have all had the ability to edit the channel list, for example, move all the HD channels to the top of the list, so when I click 1 I get BBC 1 HD, when I click 2 I get BBC 2 HD etc.

About ChanSort

ChanSort is a Windows application that allows you to reorder your TV's channel list.
Most modern TVs can transfer channel lists via USB stick, which you can plug into your PC.
ChanSort supports various file formats from Philips (new), Sony (new), ITT, Medion, Nabo, ok., PEAQ, Schaub-Lorenz, Silva-Schneider, Telefunken (new),Hisense, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba and the Linux VDR project.

Features

• Reorder channels (change numbers directly, move up/down, drag&drop, double-click)
• Use another channel list as a reference to apply the same ordering
• Multi-selection for editing multiple channels at once
• Side-by-side view of new/sorted list and original/complete list (similar to playlist and library)
• Rename or delete channels
• Manage favorites, parental lock, channel skipping (when zapping), channel hiding
• User interface in English, German and partially in Turkish and Portuguese
• Unicode character support for channel names (Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, ..)

Some features may not be available on all TV models and channel types (analog, digital, sat, cable, ..)

Most of this software was written without support from TV manufacturers or access to any officialdocumentation about the file formats. It is solely based on analysing existing data files, trial and error.There is a chance of unwanted side-effects or even damage to your TV, as reported in 2 cases.

Hisense is the only manufacturer who provided technical information and a test device.

System requirements

• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (Full):included in Win8, required for Win7, Vista and XP SP3
• Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86):required to edit SQLite lists (Hisense, Panasonic, Toshiba and Samsung .zip format)
• USB stick/SD-card to transfer the channel list between your TV and PC (FAT32 file system recommended)
• Some LG models require a special service remote control to access the import/export functions (see Wiki for details)

*: The 'clone.bin' format is not supported. In the '*.scm' formatthe 'Air Analog'-list of the 2009 B-series doesn't support allediting features due to a lack of test files. If you have such a file,please send it to me.

and all newer models using the GlobalClone.TLL format

*: Some devices behave erroneously due to firmware issues.

Viera models with an svl.bin or svl.db channel list (most models since 2011)

Android-TVs 'sdb.xml' files using formats 'FormateVer' 1.1.0 and 'FormatVer' 1.0.0, 1.1.0 and 1.2.0

Toshiba
Models that export a .zip file containing chmgt.db, dvbSysData.db and dvbMainData.db files.
(e.g. RL, SL, TL, UL, VL, WL, XL, YL models of series 8xx/9xx)

ITT, Medion, Nabo, ok., PEAQ, Schaub-Lorenz, Silva-Schneider, Telefunken
These brands use .sdx files (currently only satellite lists are supported)

PhilipsPhilips uses countless incompatible file formats for various TV models.ChanSort currently supports 2 different versions of .xml files, other formats are not supported.

VDR (Linux Video Disk Recorder)
Supports the channels.conf file format.
Implementation for this was provided by TCr82 from the VDR project.

SamsChannelEditor is a desktop application for editing a channel list from your Samsung TV. Now sorting channels should be much easier.

Both of these books are excellent, highly recommended for all those who want to learn lettering. Caslon bold free font. Among those many books, there were two that outshine the rest: One is “Lettering for Advertising” by Mortimer Leach, and the other one is “How to Render Roman Letter Forms” by Tommy Thompson. Photo-Lettering had Saul Haput’s Casoni and Headliners International had Hawthorne in a full range of styles.So, instead of making just another revival of the types of William Caslon, we preferred to pay homage to the 60s lettering artists. Quoting Larry Ottino: “If the beginner learns the basic principals of form and proportion contained in the Caslon alphabet he will find that he has the base for learning of any alphabet”.Our wonder led us to find countless examples of beautifully crafted handlettered Caslon renderings, and many lettering tutorial books.

Installation

There's no setup file, just download de binaries and execute the samschanneleditor.exe file. All files are avaiable here.

This application is written in C# so you need the .Net framework 2.0 (or newer) to be installed on your computer.

Bad file size error

Since version 0.9 you can define new sizes in SamsChannelEditor.exe.config. Just open with a text editor like notepad and add a new size for your file in section.

key: starts with 'fs_' and after comes the channel file name (without '-' after map) value: is a number list separated by commas. Each number specifies a possible record size.

To calculate your record size:

1. change extension .scm to .zip
2. Extract all files.
3. Select file you are opening and look the size in file properties.
4. record size is a 1000 multiple (divide your size by 1000 or 2000)
